Privacy Policy

This policy explains how data is handled on the ElTarot.es website and in the Tarot Marsella mobile apps for Android and iOS.

Who we are

The data controller is David Cruz Anaya (davthecoder), developer of ElTarot.es and the Tarot Marsella apps, based in the United Kingdom.

What this policy covers

It applies to:

It does not cover third-party sites you may open from the menu (for example Ankor Inclán, Instagram or YouTube). Those services have their own policies.

Summary

Mobile apps (Android and iOS)

Tarot Marsella is an offline app. Cards, meanings, language and preferences stay on the device (local storage). There is no backend of our own, no analytics, no ads and no crash reporter.

In particular, the apps:

This matches the Google Play Data safety declaration: no data is collected or shared with third parties from the app.

ElTarot.es website

You can use the online tarot without registering. Some activity stays in your browser; other data leaves your device only if you ask for it or consent to it.

Data that stays on your device

The browser stores in localStorage preferences such as language, reading mode (daily card or 3 cards), whether you accepted the disclaimer, the daily card and your cookie choice. That data is not sent to our servers. You can delete it in your browser settings.

Analytics (consent only)

If you tap “Accept” on the cookie notice, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand in aggregate how the site is used (page views, approximate device type, country). If you tap “Reject”, it is not loaded. Details, cookie lifetime and how to change your choice are in the cookie policy.

AI reading (optional, website only)

If you use “AI Reading”, you type a question and we send that question (up to 500 characters) plus the three card identifiers to our server. The server asks Anthropic for the reading text and returns it to you. We do not store the question or the reading in a database. Anthropic may process that information under its privacy policy.

The reading is emotional support, not profiling with legal effects and not an automated decision about you. Do not put health data, children’s data or anything you do not want transmitted into the question box.

If you generate a PDF or a share image, it is created on your device. We do not upload those files to our servers.

Hosting technical logs

The site is hosted on DigitalOcean. Like any website, the host may temporarily log technical data (IP address, time, path, browser) to serve the page, for security and for diagnostics. We do not use those logs to identify you or for marketing.

Cookies

On the website we use Google Analytics cookies, and only if you consent. We do not use advertising cookies. See the cookie policy for the list, lifetime and how to withdraw consent.

The mobile apps do not use cookies.

Processors and recipients

Where they apply, we use these providers:

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with advertisers or advertising networks.

International transfers

Google, Anthropic and DigitalOcean may process data outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area (in particular in the United States). When that happens, they rely on the safeguards those providers publish (such as standard contractual clauses or other recognised mechanisms).

Retention

Legal basis

Under UK GDPR and, where it applies, EU GDPR:

Children

ElTarot.es and Tarot Marsella are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has sent us information (for example an AI question), email us and we will handle it.

Your rights

You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, email [email protected].

You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority that applies to you: the ICO (United Kingdom) or the AEPD (Spain), or another authority in your country.

In practice you control much of the local data yourself: delete it in the browser or by uninstalling the app. To stop analytics, use Change cookie preferences or reject the notice.

Changes

If the way we handle data changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the site or the apps after a material change means the current version here was available for you to read.
